Kirby Presses Government on its commitment to persons with disabilities

Today in the House of Assembly NDP Critic for Advanced Education and Skills Dale Kirby (MHA, St. John’s North) asked the minister how she intends to ensure that government’s Disabilities Strategy will actually improve home supports.
Kirby noted that people with disabilities have the right to live in the community, and can with the right support. However, he is concerned that the Strategy makes no commitment to provide more home supports for independent living.
“Persons with disabilities must have clear language from government that unequivocally states their rights, and the support they can expect from this government,” said Kirby.
