NDP Leader Lorraine Michael (MHA, Signal Hill-Quidi Vidi) says the provincial government is not doing much of a job when it comes to reassuring residents of the province that budget decisions were made wisely. And, she says, she is maintaining her position that Budget 2013 is devastating for rural Newfoundland and Labrador.

NDP Education Critic Dale Kirby (MHA, St. John’s North) says government should be paying more attention to school administrators before it implements the drastic staffing reductions and layoffs planned for September of this year.

NDP Environment and Conservation critic George Murphy (MHA, St. John’s East) is seriously concerned about the long-term implications of Budget 2013 for the province’s natural heritage.

The minister of Environment and Conservation eliminated 61 jobs in the budget, including wildlife biologists and other people working with endangered species.
