NDP MHA Gerry Rogers (St. John’s Centre) asked the minister of justice today if the people of the province will have to wait for another scandal before they see the long-promised whistleblower legislation.

Today in the House of Assembly, Gerry Rogers (MHA, St. John’s Centre) asked the government about its progress on two long-standing issues.

Human rights advocates have been requesting for years that gender identity be included in the province’s Human Rights Code, but Rogers was told at a budget estimates meeting that this hasn’t been done because gender identity is “confusing.”

Gerry Rogers (MHA, St. John’s Centre) will be presenting the following petition urging the Government to follow through on its 2007 commitment to enact Whistle Blower Protection for Public Service workers. We are one of few provinces that does not have this protection for its workers and the people they serve.
